The name “Radnor” carries a unique and heartfelt history. As the story goes, the hotel was renamed in the 1920s by its Publican, who had a spirited dog named Radnor, after his homeland in Wales. Originally known as the Grand Hotel, it became the Hotel Radnor in a touching tribute to this beloved pet.
Radnor was well-known for barking and nipping at the heels of the bullocks that hauled timber past the hotel. Sadly, his life came to an abrupt end when he was trampled by the very beasts he used to chase. Deeply affected by the loss, the publican honoured his loyal companion by renaming the hotel, creating the lasting legacy of the Hotel Radnor.
